Color me RAD

Yesterday my daughters and I did our first 5k together it was the Color me Rad in Columbus Ga. I was thrilled to get to experience it with both my daughters. I was also thrilled to see 4500 people many of them new to 5k events not only out exercising on a Saturday morning but training before hand. What a great way to get people active and the Childrens Miracle network benefits too!! It is definitely a win win thing!!!
On to my layout, I love this picture of the girls and decided to use it with this sketch from Sketch N Scrap

I used Heidi Swapp color shine spray in teal for the background paper.
The "splat" paper and the cut splats were created in MTC.
The polka dot paper is MME Girl Talk.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit with me, I hope there is something today that motivates you to get up and "move".

An online class project

Several women in one of my yahoo groups signed up to take an online class. The class is about learning to use pattern paper when card making. Some of you already know that I have struggled with using pattern papers. Up until a few months ago EVERY layout and almost every card had a solid background. I must say that I have broken through that barrier with my layouts but am still struggling with my cards. So this class was right up my alley. I am excited to get to sit down and catch up with the videos tomorrow but took the time when putting together a quick card this morning to use one of the principles from Day 1. I needed a card for a couple at church that are really going through some tough times. Since it is for a couple I wanted to lean towards the masculine (ugh). Also  I found this Tim Holtz 4.25x5.5 distress pad at Joann's last week. I am sure this is not a new product but it was a new discovery for me. I ran home and tried it out with my paisley embossing folder and knew that I was going to start my card with that piece of paper. Amber Kemp-Gerstel shared her way of choosing papers, use a bold, a basic, and a blah. So that is what I did for this card. I combined the Tim Holtz paper (my basic) with a bold and a blah from my Authentique 6x6 Genuine bundle. I can hardly believe I stamped on the patterned paper! The card is so super simple but I have resisted the urge to bling it up and will rush it into the envelope so that I will leave it alone!  What was great is that using the principles that I learned on Day 1 of the class I was able to pick my papers and get a card done in under 15 minutes..... usually just picking the paper takes me twice that much time!!  I hope to get back in my crafty space soon and make a few more cards........hmmmm wonder how long it will take?

I hope that you have a blessed day.
Hope you will visit again soon.

2 broke girls Sketch Challenge

I absolutely love this sketch It is the first sketch challenge at 2 Broke Girls challenge site. I am really loving this site. I must admit that I love the challenges but am finding the actual site a bit difficult for this old gal to navigate. Grrrrrrrr. I am going to keep plugging away and hopefully it will not frustrate me to the point that I do not go back. Because I adore the challenges...
My layout is pretty clean and simple. This is one of Amanda and Tim's engagement pictures. I love that the balloons allow me to use bold colors! I just adore the happy looks on their faces!
Here is the sketch

Here is my layout.
All the papers are from an old stack from my stash K and Company Sparkly Sweet.
The flowers are Prima.
The buttons are a mix from October Afternoon midway and witch hazel.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.
May today bring you many blessings.

Chevrons again!

The Pink Elephant has a challenge to use chevrons or hexagons. I have used chevrons a lot lately so this was an easy one for me. This layout is pictures from our trip to the Grand Canyon in 2007. My Aunt Ginny had been recently diagnosed with alzheimers and my Mom, my cousin and I went to the Grand Canyon for a last big trip with her. We really all have a great time when we are together with lots of laughter. I am truly blessed by a wonderful family. I am so fortunate to have been to able to share this experience with them.

All my papers and most of the embellishments are from Bo Bunnys mamarazzi. I really love this collection. It was a lot of fun to work with. The wooden veneers I received as  a RAK from a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to share a memory with me.

Happy sunday

We just got finished with Skyler's fifth birthday party. My oh my where does the time go? Too much fun but it is hard to think of him being that old. I did a small "rockstar" themed banner for the big day. Which was too much fun.

On to my challenge layout. I really like this one. I was looking through pictures to do a sketch challenge the other night and ran across these. Olivia was just so sweet....
I am entering this at Scrap It Girl in the march recipe challenge. The recipe is one stamp, 2 punches and 3 papers. I was not sure if that was the max or min of each you could use so stuck strictly with the numbers.
I followed the March 2nd sketch in the My Scraps and More sketch a thon.
  Here is the sketch

 Here is my layout.

The details.
I used MME My girl for all the papers.
The flowers and dragonfly are woolies.
The gingham flowers were out of a 2$ grab bag from Michaels (love them!!)
Ok 1 stamp.. the orange chevrons are stamped with a small flower (this stamp was also out of a grab bag)
2 punches the border is punched with Martha Stewart scallops and the buttons were punched with a MS punch also.
And of course the 3 pattern papers were all My girl.

There was a "twist" for the sketch challenge to use 2 groups of 2 there are 2 woolie flowers and also 2 puffy flowers under the picture. Hope that counts.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. Now head on over and check out both of these awesome challenges.
Have a blessed day.
