Mojo Monday Sketch #287

Took me awhile to get started but once I did love the results. I love that this sketch is do versatile. Here is the sketch from Mojo Monday.
 and here is my take.
Even though it is springy I  think the colors are subtle enough I am going to send it as a sympathy card.
Thanks for spending a few minutes with me today.

" I Love Lucy"

My yahoo group had a challenge to use the title of a TV show as your layout title. This instantly came to mind as I named my silly Lucy after Lucille Ball. I followed Sketch # 30 from Sketch-N-Scrap and I am also going to enter it in the Scallop challenge at Frosted Designs.

The background papers are from   EP Dots and Stripes.
I printed out the zebra and the pink polka dots. Yes I attempted a ribbon flower. I was working on this layout last night and just could not find any embellies that I liked from my stash. Went to bed thinking I was going shopping this morning. When I got up reality sunk in....... I have sooooo much already just  make something work. And this is the finished product. Isn't Lucy just too cute!

 Thank you for visiting.
I hope something inspires you today.

Geez what an ordeal......

I hope that none  of you can identify with this post and that all of your layouts turn out the way you want and that you love them all........ This was a challenge from the beginning ... and just kept going downhill. I had put so much effort into salvaging it early on that I decided  to just wade through (and throw something else at it)and accept that I will not love all my layouts.
I was following a sketch from My Scraps and More that I love and actually like the core of the layout just none of the embellies. We had dyed Easter eggs and were using a method that combined shaving cream and food color that Adrienne saw on Pinterest. The pictures say it all.
the sketch

My layout......
I will not even give a description just please remember that most of the embellies are actually cover up and not truly embellishment.... Nough said. Oh, but one thing I did like was that the swirly paper is actually a picture I took of the pan of colored shaving cream before they played in it. It actually made really awesome paper! So all is not lost!

Thank you for stopping by.
I hope that you LOVE your next layout!

A new month

I truly hope that you had a very special Easter season.  Now it is time to move on into April, spring cleaning and starting the garden. Love this time of year.
This layout is going to satisfy 2 challenges.
I used the April  sketch from Artful Delight. What an easy an fun layout to follow!
I also am entering this for "use you stash" at Colorful Creations.

And here it is.......

Is my precious Olivia adorable or what!! We had so much fun hunting eggs that day.... and yes that is Grandmas Longaberger Easter basket.

The paper and stickers are all from Authentique "Hope".
From my stash: 4 prima flowers and 3 pieces of washi tape.
Also from my stash the blingy butterflies.
And talk about digging into the stash... I coated the background paper with old lace Glimmer mist. Can not remember the last time I drug those out!
Thank you so much for visiting.
I hope that April brings sunshine to your days.

Color me RAD

Yesterday my daughters and I did our first 5k together it was the Color me Rad in Columbus Ga. I was thrilled to get to experience it with both my daughters. I was also thrilled to see 4500 people many of them new to 5k events not only out exercising on a Saturday morning but training before hand. What a great way to get people active and the Childrens Miracle network benefits too!! It is definitely a win win thing!!!
On to my layout, I love this picture of the girls and decided to use it with this sketch from Sketch N Scrap

I used Heidi Swapp color shine spray in teal for the background paper.
The "splat" paper and the cut splats were created in MTC.
The polka dot paper is MME Girl Talk.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit with me, I hope there is something today that motivates you to get up and "move".

An online class project

Several women in one of my yahoo groups signed up to take an online class. The class is about learning to use pattern paper when card making. Some of you already know that I have struggled with using pattern papers. Up until a few months ago EVERY layout and almost every card had a solid background. I must say that I have broken through that barrier with my layouts but am still struggling with my cards. So this class was right up my alley. I am excited to get to sit down and catch up with the videos tomorrow but took the time when putting together a quick card this morning to use one of the principles from Day 1. I needed a card for a couple at church that are really going through some tough times. Since it is for a couple I wanted to lean towards the masculine (ugh). Also  I found this Tim Holtz 4.25x5.5 distress pad at Joann's last week. I am sure this is not a new product but it was a new discovery for me. I ran home and tried it out with my paisley embossing folder and knew that I was going to start my card with that piece of paper. Amber Kemp-Gerstel shared her way of choosing papers, use a bold, a basic, and a blah. So that is what I did for this card. I combined the Tim Holtz paper (my basic) with a bold and a blah from my Authentique 6x6 Genuine bundle. I can hardly believe I stamped on the patterned paper! The card is so super simple but I have resisted the urge to bling it up and will rush it into the envelope so that I will leave it alone!  What was great is that using the principles that I learned on Day 1 of the class I was able to pick my papers and get a card done in under 15 minutes..... usually just picking the paper takes me twice that much time!!  I hope to get back in my crafty space soon and make a few more cards........hmmmm wonder how long it will take?

I hope that you have a blessed day.
Hope you will visit again soon.
